I can’t remember exactly when I caught the travel bug. Sometimes I think maybe I was born with it. It wasn’t until after college, however, that I learned how to be a traveler instead of a tourist, to make a conscious effort to embrace the uniqueness of a destination.
This is where my love of wine began to grow as well, as I sampled white and red varietals special to the region in which I was visiting. It was a way for me to connect with a location and have an experience I couldn’t find at home.
Unfortunately, my life in Los Angeles doesn’t always give me leave to explore the world. So I learned to explore my own city. And with that I discovered the satisfaction in seeing a place I had never been before, even if it is only a few miles from my own front door.
These findings, the amazing places in Los Angeles locals often neglect or miss completely because there’s no urgency to see them, are the things I hope to share with you here. I’ll also highlight some of my favorite weekend getaways, from Palm Springs and San Diego all the way up to Napa and Sonoma.
Of course, traveling abroad is still a possibility and a goal. I encourage everyone to make a plan, take vacation time and go to a far-off destination of your dreams. I’ve already shared my travel wish list, and I’ll continue to put the spotlight on some of my favorite international destinations.
I’m excited to share my memorable trips, travel advice and wine experiences with you. Cheers!
